We consider ourselves specialists when it comes to finding last-minute cover. The system we’ve created lets us know our staff’s availability at a glance, so we can quickly confirm whether we’ve got cover available in short-notice situations. Medilink Nursing’s Temporary Care Staff Agency Workers

So, we can provide you with temporary staff – but how good are they? We are more selective when it comes to recruitment than a lot of other agencies!

Experience

We require all of our candidates to have at least 6 months’ of relevant healthcare experience within the past 2 years, or 2 years’ experience within the past 5. Furthermore, this experience must be within the UK! (We do occasionally make exceptions where it makes sense – it would have been silly to turn down the lovely Australian nurse with 8 years of Nursing Home experience who signed up with us the other week.)

We also renew our staff’s DBS checks yearly, which is done by our partner firm, Aaron’s Department. As an aside, if you’re thinking of switching your Home’s DBS provider to save a bit of money, consider using Aaron’s – we’ve found them to be very effective.

Training

Furthermore, we provide yearly training for all our temporary care staff agency workers. Our staff take our in-house courses on topics such as People Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Medication Awareness, and more. Agency staff can, all too often, go without refresher courses, due to the less conventional nature of their employment – agencies don’t always provide training! Be assured that this is not the case at Medilink Nursing! On top of their experience, our staff are up-to-date with the latest healthcare training – they know their stuff, meaning that they can come straight in and know what they are doing.

They’ll be happy to handle everything from there. They’re in the office from 6:00am to 10:30pm, every day, including Bank Holidays. (not all at the same time, we don’t make them work 16-hour days!).
