New CRB application form

After months of preparation, the new application form officially launched on 26th July when the CRB started to accept and process all of those forms received from 28th June.
As you are aware, the new application form was designed to allow customers to apply for a CRB check and ISA registration on one simple form. However, as a result of the Government's recent announcement to halt the launch of the ISA registration phase of the new Vetting and Barring Scheme, the form should now only be used to apply for a CRB check.

It is vital, at the introductory stage, that you pay extra care and attention in checking the application form before submitting the form to Medilink Nursing. Please ensure that you read the front page of the application form and use the e-guide, available at www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk, to help you to complete the form correctly, and remind all applicants to do the same. This will help to reduce errors and minimise subsequent delays that will occur if your forms have to be returned

Taxi Drivers - Change to level of Check

Last month, the government announced that they will change the law to allow taxi licencing authorities to apply for Enhanced CRB Checks for all taxi licensing applications. When this change comes into force, licensing authorities will be able to check whether the person applying for a taxi licence is also barred from working with children or vulnerable adults as part of the Enhanced Check.

As the law stands at the moment, licensing authorities can only apply for an Enhanced Check on drivers who regularly pick up children or vulnerable adults; however, it has become commonplace for many licensing authorities to apply for Enhanced Checks for all taxi and private hire licences.

This change requires secondary legislation and as yet we don't have a date for it's introduction, but the CRB will keep us posted. In the meantime, taxi licensing authorities should continue to apply the current legislation.

Payment of CRB application forms can be made by Cheque, Credit/Debit card. Also available for large companies, are payment on receipt of invoice on a weekly or monthly basis.
